I love riding when it is cold out. 39 degrees F today and it was so nice to exercise and not feel hot. I'm dreading the warm weather. I rode it all in a residential area and found out its garbage night tonight so I was entertained by what people were throwing out. I felt no pain from the last ride at all other than my lower back getting stretched out which is good because I need to strengthen those muscles.
8.2 miles today and managed to keep it around 10 mph the whole time.
52 minutes of riding time
Verdict: I definitely can ride more and the ipod helped me not be so bored today.

Day 1-- The test run.
I just got back from the first ride in many many years. I definitely could have ridden a lot more but I need to first find out if what I did is going to hurt tomorrow..lol. I at first tried to use a bike helmet but ditched it. I'll try again when its warmer and I don't have to wear a winter hat under it! A little bit of jelly legs when I got off but I feel really good after the ride. It perked me up and I'm so out of shape that minor ride definitely got my heart rate up.
5.2 miles in 39 minutes. I rode an average of 8 miles per hour mainly because I was so busy looking around at the sites. When I didn't daydream I rode 10 miles per hour. So I'm going to make a goal of consistently riding 10 mph for next time.

Prepping the bike
My bike is a 26" Mongoose Sahara Comfort Bike. I've had it at least 7 yrs and it looks like the one in this pic but its royal blue.
I didn't have to do much to it to get it ready to ride again just air in tires.
I put a Bell Bike computer on it to keep track of mileage, speed, and riding time. I really need to test on a known distance to see how accurate it is.
Bike is ready.. now I need the snow to melt already so I can ride!
